Directing
When I direct, I get to put all the pieces of my artistry together weaving playwriting, storytelling, musicianship, acting, and producing into one big creative engine. I love shaping productions where story and song are inseparable, where every choice feels like it serves both the heart and the spectacle. At Redhouse Arts Center, I had the joy of directing Beauty and the Beast (which earned me a SALT Award nomination for Best Director), Bring It On, and 13, each of them wildly different in style but equally thrilling in the way they brought community, diversity, and collaboration to the forefront.
When I direct, I build a room where artists feel empowered to take risks and safe enough to fly. I want actors to surprise themselves (and me), designers to feel like true collaborators, and audiences to walk into a world that feels like a bold new adventure where they can also recognize their own world. My sweet spot is the balance between bold theatricality and emotional honesty, and I’m always chasing the magic that happens when those two things collide.
